Fr. Phil was born in Dubuque on April 4, 1952. After attending St. Columbkille Grade School and Wahlert High School, he graduated from Loras College in 1974. He then attended St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana and was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Dubuque on June 3, 1978. He has served as a teacher and principal in Catholic schools, and as associate pastor and pastor in numerous parishes. He was named founding pastor of John XXIII Parish in 2000. |

Ann became pastoral associate at John XXIII on July 1, 2005, working primarily in the areas of liturgy, home and hospital visitation, and adult education. Ann and her husband Art live near Amana on the Petrzelka family farm. They have four children: Joseph, Sarah, Thomas, and John. Ann and her family belong to St. Michael Parish in Norway, and her children attend Iowa State University and Clear Creek-Amana Schools. After spending ten years as a full-time homemaker, Ann returned to work part-time in 2004 as Pastoral Associate of St. Patrick Parish in Fairfax, a position she retains along with her ministry here at John XXIII. Ann earned her Masters degree in ministry at Loras College in Dubuque in December 2006. |
