Welcome
to the Archdiocese of Dubuque's newest parish
Archbishop Hanus has announced a change in pastoral leadership, effective July 8, 2008.
Father Philip Thompson, the founding pastor of John XXIII Parish, and, since 2001, the parochial administrator of St. Patrick Parish, Fairfax, will become pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Cedar Rapids, and pastoral coordinator of Holy Family Consolidated School, while continuing as pastoral coordinator of Xavier High School and the Xavier High School Foundation.
The new pastor will be Father Dustin Vu, currently the associate pastor of Resurrection Parish, Dubuque. Father Vu will also have responsibilities at Xavier High School. Father Vu was ordained on June 26, 2004.
A reception for Father Thompson will be held in the Parish Center on Sunday, June 22, 2:00-4:00. All are encouraged to attend to bid Father Thompson farewell.

If you are not a member of our parish, but you attend here regularly, we invite you to contact Fr. Phil to inquire about the benefits of membership in our wonderful parish family. We are faith-based, Christ-oriented, family-friendly, and welcoming. People say that their faith is nourished by their participation in our liturgies. And we have doughnuts, juice, and coffee after Mass every Sunday! If you are thinking of joining the parish and you have children in religious education, please don’t wait till the end of the summer. We need to order textbooks for all our students, and we don’t want your children left out if they don’t have their books at the beginning of the classes.
Assistance for victims of sexual abuse: If you as a minor suffered sexual abuse by clergy or other church personnel, please call a Coordinator of Assistance of the Archdiocese of Dubuque, who will receive your claim of abuse, make a report to civil authorities, and offer further help: Dr. Thomas Anderegg (563-556-1225), or Joan Hoffmann (866-319-4636), or Maureen Oates (800-803-6758). |
